About Maintaining Your PMP® Credential - or getting enough PDU Training

According to pmi.org you can receive one PDU for every hour of related training. Please see the PMI® website for all details and take care to notice the changes since March 2011. Below we offer ideas and training that may suit your ongoing learning needs.

Pick training types that relate to the type of Project Management you do. Types of training you can report that is related to your projects, most of which SmartPath LLC offers you:

11. Microsoft Tools training. Over 89% of companies in the US prefer to use Microsoft. Google searches for project management jobs are showing current versions of 2010 for SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Visio (Diagramming & Flowcharting), to be necessary tools to maintain project sites, change requests, project reports, communicate with Stakeholders, Manage Stakeholder expectations and drive the current trend to paperless documentation. Use SharePoint to send surveys, and collect, monitor them and illustrate survey results. If you do an Excel class, take the class for Project Managers.

12. Data Collection, Business Intelligence for PMs, CRM for PMs etc. See this and also click on Technical. You can collect a lot of data through SharePoint 2010 as you can pull it in from the databases. Project Managements are often in charge of setting up Projects that do this.

13. Microsoft Online Training Desktop or Technical Online. You can report one hour of training for every hour Microsoft says it will take you to do the training as these are average based. Stay with the subjects that will help you in your projects or are project management focused such as SharePoint, Visio, etc.

14. PMI® chapter meetings or PMI® conference meetings or helping out in PMI® chapter events. See PMI.org for details of PDUs. Some rules have changed and some reporting may have limits. Please see the PMI® website for all PDU requirements.

15. Read related subject books. See details on PMI.org.

16. Other online or conference training, including PMI.org that also has some PDU questions that you may score PDUs on if you answer 7 questions right.
